What happens at my first visit?

Following is what you can expect, both from your first visit with Dr. Wallis and from your first contact with her.

First Contact

When you first call or email for information Dr. Wallis will explain the initial process of assessing what your difficulties and therapeutic needs may be. Before you ever come in, you will be told about fees, how payment is made, and where the office is located.

First Visit

During your first visit Dr. Wallis will ask you about your current difficulties, about your current lifestyle, your physical health and family and social experiences.

This process usually takes one to two sessions, after which Dr. Wallis will be in a better position to make recommendations regarding service, explain how she might be able to help, and, if so, how therapy might proceed.

This assessment process allows you to assess Dr. Wallis as well; to ask questions and see if you feel comfortable with Dr. Wallis. When a good rapport is established, therapy is more likely to be very helpful to you.
